Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the transcription and expression about the nomenclature of inorganic compounds in five science textbooks for the 10th grade. Based on the comparison of each text content, the name, the appearance frequence, and the transcription method of inorganic compounds were listed. The results found that there are 48.8 inorganic chemical compounds and 86 transcription methods on the average. Representative inorganic compounds in the text were hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and sodium chloride in order. They could be chemically transcribed by the seven expression modes which were obtained from the Johnstone¡¯s triangle model.
